An entrepreneur is someone who operates a business. Network marketing is a form of entrepreneurship. However, it does not have the great costs associated with a brick-and-mortar business. When there is a business, any business, that requires a building, rent for a building, office equipment, employees, merchandise of any kind, and other related expenses, those expenses can be very great. If the profit from the business does not offset the expenses, as well as bring in enough extra profit for the business owner to survive, he goes out of business.

This is where network marketing has an advantage. The main expenses are usually (depending on the particular company), a yearly or monthly expense for related internet expenses for a login back office, a monthly auto-ship purchase of product (which is why you want to pick a company whose product you love, use, and believe in), any extraneous advertising expenses (you can advertise with word-of-mouth only, which is free), and maybe some company-sponsored “bling” you might purchase to wear, such as a t-shirt, as a form of advertising.

In any case, the expenses are far, far less than a brick-and-mortar business. Plus, you are basically working from home (or wherever you are staying) so you don’t have to drive to work every day. The downside is that it takes a while to build a team. You get commissions off of your own sales and that of the team.

However, if the product is something you want and use anyway, that really should not matter, because you are in the company because you want the product first and foremost. Income becomes a secondary consideration. However, it is great if you can share the business, sign up some representatives, and get an override commission. It helps pay for your own product as you earn, and may eventually give you income over that.
